Choose support around the work you need to do
“We need help with ISO 27001” can mean very different things. One organisation is starting from scratch. Another has established controls but needs an objective view of whether they work. A third has completed its initial implementation and is struggling to keep reviews and actions moving.
The right support starts with your current position, available skills and immediate priorities. DPS Compliance Hub provides implementation consultancy, internal auditing and ongoing ISMS management. Each serves a different purpose, and the combination can change as your organisation develops.
Implementation consultancy: establish a practical foundation
Consultancy is useful when your team needs help turning requirements into a workable plan. Typical questions include: what should the ISMS cover, which information risks matter most, what already exists, and what needs to be developed?
DPS can support scope definition, gap analysis, risk assessment, process development and preparation. The aim is an ISMS that reflects your actual operating model. Copying a policy without checking how staff will follow it creates documentation without reliable practice.
Your team should remain involved in decisions. A productive engagement leaves people understanding their responsibilities, with priorities and outputs agreed around the organisation’s needs.
Internal auditing: assess implementation and effectiveness
An internal audit asks whether the management system meets its applicable requirements and works in practice. It examines evidence, samples activities and identifies findings that management can act on.
This is valuable before an external assessment, when a programme has changed substantially, or as part of a planned audit cycle. An audit may reveal that a process is documented but not followed, that evidence is incomplete, or that corrective actions have not addressed their underlying cause.
Plan the audit around scope, risk and the importance of the activities being assessed. Ensure objectivity and impartiality when assigning auditors, including where implementation support has also been provided. Internal auditing is distinct from the certification audit carried out by a certification body.
ISMS management: keep the programme moving
After initial implementation, the system still needs attention. Suppliers change, staff join, systems are replaced and incidents highlight weaknesses. Documents, risk assessments, objectives and actions need timely review.
Ongoing management support helps coordinate that work and maintain momentum. It can provide a regular structure for review, action tracking and management reporting while helping the organisation identify improvements.
Outsourcing support does not transfer management accountability. Agree who owns decisions, who supplies evidence, what DPS will do and how issues will be escalated. Clear responsibilities are especially important where your internal team is small.
Give software and expertise a shared purpose
ISMS WorkspaceSupplier Security Workspace provides a common place for plans, documents, risks, controls, evidence and follow-up actions. That structure helps your own team and any supporting consultant work from a consistent record.
- Starting your programme? Use consultancy to establish direction and the workspace to organise implementation.
- Need assurance about progress? Use an internal audit to test what has been implemented and prioritise corrective action.
- Finding maintenance difficult? Consider ongoing management support with clear reporting and ownership.
Define success before the engagement starts
Bring your existing documentation, known concerns and business deadlines to the first discussion. Agree scope, responsibilities, expected outputs and how progress will be reviewed. This creates a clearer basis for pricing and delivery than an open-ended request to “make us compliant”.
